Only registered students may participate in the Criminal Law Powwow Discussion Group. The group site will be used by those assigned to post case briefs and problem solutions. Another purpose of the discussion group is to provide a central, peer-to-peer sounding board for students in the class to engage in discussion, debate, comment, and argument by posting messages to the group via an email account. All students are required to register for the Powwow Group using a free Yahoo email account. I suggest you obtain an account dedicated solely to this class. Otherwise, the class postings will be mixed with your regular email in the account. It will be very helpful to both of us if you will use your own name in your email address, e.g.,
borisfarenwide@yahoo.com rather than imacooldude@yahoo.com.
Go to the Powwow Group page and sign up. On your application for membership, be sure to specify your name and that you are a student in Professor Moses' criminal law class. The sooner you do this, the sooner you will have access to the Powwow site and the informative password protected pages on this Crimes and Defenses web site.
If this is too complicated to grasp and you would like for me to subscribe you directly, email me your full name, class section, and the Yahoo email address you want to use. This option will take longer to process.
Once you are signed up, you may post your assigned case brief(s), problem answers, and exercise solutions to the Powwow group from your designated Yahoo email account by addressing the brief or problem solution to crimlawpowwow@yahoogroups.com . Everyone receives everyone else's postings. You may choose to have separate emails or a daily digest of emails. NOTE: Due to the danger of viruses, E-mail attachments are not permitted; of course, you can still cut and paste.
Membership in the Powwow group is mandatory and restricted to members of our criminal law class. Again, I urge that you establish a free YAHOO e-mail account dedicated solely for use in this course. Create an address that identifies you by name. You can do this in five minutes. To fully access the crimlawpowwow discussion site and its archives, you will need a Yahoo ID and password. There you will find a permanent archive of all briefs and messages filed by your fellow students this semester, plus some useful files, e.g., a course outline created
by a "top gun" student from a prior class.
